Alert Level 2: NZ Thirumurugan Temple Remains Closed / Abhishekam – Archanai & Live Streaming Continue

Dear Muruga Devotees,

We trust you and the family have been keeping well. It is pleasing to note that New Zealand is now ready to move down to Alert level 2 from 14 May 2020.

The main relevant point for us under Alert 2, is the rules and guidance in respect of “gathering”. The maximum number allowed for religious gathering is 10 although the general emphasis from the Government is to avoid or minimise any gathering.

Accordingly it has been decided not to reopen our Thirumurugan Temple at this stage

Obviously, this is not a decision we have taken lightly but we are following what most religious organisations are doing under the circumstances. We will review the position if and when the government regulation changes.

Please note that our temple will continue to offer the following services and options for devotees:

 – Abhishekam & Archanai on behalf of devotees – these can be booked by calling Jeje on 021 269 7826 or 09 625 5125

  • Each archanai will be $5 per deity
  • Abhishekam details would be available from Jeje as well
  • The bank account for the payment 12-3069-0276869-00 (ASB)
  • Please indicate your name and date of abhishekam/pooja as bank reference.

 – Facebook Live – Streaming of morning poojas (Tuesday and Friday) and Evening pooja (everyday) will continue. Also we will live stream any special functions and abhishekams.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. With the grace of Lord Muruga – we hope we will get the opportunity to reopen the temple soon. We will be in touch no sooner we are able to do so.

Please continue to take care and stay safe.
