Temple Reopens This Friday 29th May Evening!

Dear Muruga Devotees,

We hope all of you and your families are in good health with the grace of the Almighty. It is great to know that generally, our community has been outstanding in strictly following the Ministry of Health’s advices and the Government’s directions during each stage of the alerts, displaying much respect and integrity.

By now, all of you will be aware that the Prime Minister has announced this afternoon that the maximum number for public gathering has been increased to 100 from Friday, 29th May afternoon.

Accordingly, we are very delighted to let you know that the Temple will reopen from Friday, 29th May evening.

Obviously, we are very grateful and very excited to have the opportunity to re-open the temple after 68 long days. From thereon, the Temple will be open every evening and also in the mornings on all days with the exception of Monday, Wednesday & Thursday. The purpose of this staged reopening is to give some of our regular, morning volunteers a bit more time to resume their much appreciated help.

Operating the temple under Alert 2 conditions comes with considerable level of obligations and responsibilities. The Temple Management Committee has carefully considered all those obligations and responsibilities and has been preparing various practices and procedures to ensure :

  • The safety of our Priests
  • The safety of volunteers and all devotees
  • That we have systems in place to comply with the Government regulations

We have given below some of the steps we are required to put in place. We totally acknowledge that some of these involve a little bit of inconvenience for the devotees however we humbly seek your understanding and co-operation as every step has been clearly thought out and are there for everyone’s safety.

  1. If you are unwell, on self-isolation or part of a household in which someone is on self-isolation, please stay at home.
  2. There will be a single point of entry to the temple. This will be the side door to the left of the main doors as you come in.
  3. As you enter, a volunteer will provide you with hand sanitizer to wipe your hands. This will be “contactless ” for you as it will be squirted by the volunteer
  4. We are required to maintain a daily attendance register with details of your name, address and contact details, time entered and time exited to assist the Ministry of Health should contact tracing is required.
  5. We are required to ensure that we do not have more than 100 people inside the temple at any given time. We don’t believe this to be an issue for us during regular poojas. However, kindly co-operate with the volunteers if you are asked not to enter for a brief period. More details about this will come with specific festival messages.
  6. All devotees are required to maintain a physical distance of a minimum of 1 metre from others at all times
  7. All devotees are requested to maintain a minimum of 2 metres from the Priests at all times
  8. Community hall will be closed except for entry to the rest rooms
  9. All volunteers with people contact will wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  10. Our Priests have been asked not to touch any “Archanai Thattu”
  11. Devotees are requested to leave the “Archanai Thattu” on the table in front of Vasantha Mandabam and not hand them directly to the Priests
  12. Unfortunately, we will not have distribution of Vibuthi, theertham, santhanam, kungkumam, flowers etc during Alert 2
  13. Devotees are able to bring offerings (prasatham) to the deities, however you are requested to take them home and not distribute inside or outside the temple
  14. Entry to “Madappalli room” would be limited to limited number of authorised volunteers
  15. Temple patrons are encouraged not to congregate after the poojas
  16. Please note that we plan to continue with “live” streaming of morning & evening poojas via Face book

As always, our purpose and priority is to ensure that every devotee that attends the temple enjoys a blissful divine experience.

We are very much looking forward to the temple reopening and seeing you all again after such a long time.
